Jin Shin Jyutsu
Art to Know & Help Myself
JIN Man (compassionate, aware, understanding, KNOWING)
The Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is also known as the "Art of Happiness" and the "Art of Longevity". Jin Shin Jyutsu physio-philsophy is an art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. In the early 1900's, Master Jiro Murai from Japan revived this art that had previously been passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth and had fallen into relative obscurity. After clearing himself of a life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu. This knowledge was passed to Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950's. Mary began teaching the Art to others in the early 1960's. I had the opportunity to study with her in the late 1980's.
I am often asked if this is like the martial art Jujutsu, probably because I am a tai chi and internal arts practitioner and teacher. The answer is, no, it's not that at all. Jin Shin Jyutsu has two components - one is that you can have a practitioner 'give you' a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment - however the other, and main part of the teaching, as I see it, is what we call Self Help - Now Know Myself. If you are unfamiliar with Jin Shin Jyutsu, you can think of Self Help like a type of qigong or meditation.
It is my intent to teach the self-help aspects of Jin Shin Jyutsu so that you, too, can help yourself.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple art that can be learned and practiced by anyone. It is very gentle.
